Avant, 9 channal Video Overlay Card - Real-Time!

The Avant-9 is a PCI plug-in card which has been designed to operate in conjunction with the EMS Vigilant-Pro graphics card. The Avant-9, when combined with the Vigilant-Pro, provides up to 9 separate video overlay windows. For systems that require more than 9 overlay windows, up to 4 Avant-9 cards can be installed giving a total of 36 video windows.

When using the Avant-9 card, each video window can display one of two possible video inputs, these two inputs are dedicate.

On Card Connectors

• 2 x 26 way D connectors mounted on the back panel providing connection for video inputs.
• 2 x 40 way ribbon headers for connection to the Vigilant-Pro adapters.
• On card jumper links provide selection of terminated or un-terminated 75ohm video inputs. (27 links, 3 for each overlay)

• Each Avant-9 can be connected to a maximum of 8 Vigilant-Pro when using the MBM.
• Each Vigilant-Pro can be connected to a maximum of 4 Avant-9 Cards.
• Video overlays from a particular Avant-9 card can only appear on the screens driven by the Vigilant-Pro card it is attached to.

Restrictions:

• The maximum number of video windows on a single screen is 9.
• Video windows from separate Avant-9 cards cannot be displayed on the same screen.

Maximum Configuration:

• 8 Vigilant-Pro = 32 screens (using the MBM-H4)
• 16 Avant-9 cards = 144 video overlay windows.

• Avant-9 - Avant-9 Card with M2H4-cable set (standard)
• Avant-9-xxxx - Avant-9 card supplied with a specific cable set (xxxx) for example Avant-9-M2H1
• Avant-9-NRC - Avant-9 card with no ribbon cable set.

Cables/Accessories

As standard the Mosiac cards are shipped with the M2H4 cable set and 2 x 16 way BNC Splitter Cables.

Due to the many configurations possible with the Avant-9 card, various cable sets are available to order:

Cable Sets

M2H1-cable - Connects 1 or 2 Avant-9 cards to 1 Vigilant-Pro.
M4H1-cable - Connects 4 Avant-9 cards to 1 Vigilant-Pro.
M2H4-cable - Connects 1 or 2 Avant-9 cards to 1, 2, 3 or 4 Vigilant-Pro.
M4H4-cable - Connects 4 Avant-9 cards to 1, 2, 3 or 4 Vigilant-Pro.

Avant-9 Buffer Modules

If you require more than 4 Vigilant-Pro cards to be connected to your Avant-9 cards then by adding the Avant-9 Buffer Module (MBM) to the M2H4 or M4H4 cable sets, you can increase the number of Vigilant-Pro cards to 6 or 8 respectively.

The MBM-H2 and MBM-H4 have a small PCB that is attached to the J3, J7 and J8 headers on the Vigilant-Pro enabling 6 or 8 cards to be conected to your Avant-9 cards.
